Know How to find HDTV signals in your home?

Probably antenna angling for the best HDTV signal may still be the best bet to receive HDTV signals! With a powerful antenna and the right positioning, you may be able to pick up more stations than you think. You could also capture the best signal by reading your manual.

HDTV receivers usually come with a signal-strength meter included. Once you get into your HDTV's signal strength menu, you can experiment with the reception. The goal is usually to achieve signal strength of 60 or higher. If one channel is strong, but another is weak, see if you can angle your antenna so that it picks up the signal somewhere in the middle. Balancing your antenna somewhere within 30 degrees of each station should help you pick up the best of both transmissions.

A tower that is too close can actually cause you to have poor reception, rather than an excellent one. If you are within the five mile radius, you can purchase an attenuator which will reduce the effects of the extra-strong signal. For other interferences from the broadcasting stations like FM radio signals purchase a FM Trap to take care of the problem.

If you want to know the digital TV station strength and coverage there is an internet site called TV Fool. You can input your address or your latitude and longitude and get accurate results and guidance for pointing your antenna. Even better, the site has converted the data into Google Earth KML files. This graphically shows what level of signal you will get at your house.
