Product Description:
The new 42HP66 (42" diagonally measured) utilize 10,000:1 high contrast ratio panels for enhanced picture quality. These full-featured models come equipped with digital tuning (ATSC/QAM), dual HDMI™ inputs, a PC input and a new modern cosmetic design. In addition, Toshiba displayed new 42" diagonally measured XHD™ 1080p LCD TV models. They create the perfect step-up from the 720p Plasma models, and will include advanced Toshiba technology such as: HIGH-SPEED LCD Panel Technology. Has a rear and front connector location, which is somewhat more favorable than some similarly priced TVs. Also, this TV has an 8000:1 contrast ratio. Provides clean natural images from fast motion video. This is higher than the average TV on the market today, but is to be expected for a TV of this price. With built-in HDTV compatibility, this unit can display images that are significantly sharper and more realistic than regular television, as long as the source is high definition. This new high-speed system operates at 333 MHz, and provides true 14-Bit processing for more natural images. In addition to its high bit rate, Pixel Pure 14-Bit also features new real speed progressive scanning, increased dynamic range, increased sharpness, improved video noise reduction and dynamic gamma for uncompromised picture quality. Easy channel navigation for Terrestrial TV, Cable TV and now DIRECTV Set-top Box Control. THINC™ (Toshiba Home Interactive Network Connection). Home entertainment networking that allows consumers to connect their TV to their computer and playback MP3 files and JPEG files, using only the TV remote. New SystemMaster™ ergonomic universal remote control.
The 3:2 pull down feature of this unit reduces artifacts that can occur when motion pictures are transferred to a digital format such as DVD. The 42HP66 has a 1024 x 768-pixel resolution (XGA), a peak 1200 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating, and an amazing 8000:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.)
