The Toshiba REGZA 47HL167 47-inch 1080p LCD HDTV is a modern sleek looking TV. With a wide screen 16:9 aspect ratio, this set has a built-in tuner for ATSC and NTSC over the air broadcasts and will require an antenna. It also has a built-in QAM cable TV tuner and receives unscrambled programs without a set-top box which means it will require cable service. The best part about this HDTV is the CineSpeed LCD panel having 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution.
Overall, the TV can be an excellent value, and possesses picture capabilities that exceed several other more expensive brands. |
It has plenty of inputs for various devices and is easy to operate. Although it does have a severely limited viewing angle that should be considered carefully by some potential buyers.
The picture quality is very good with Standard Def DVD’s and excellent with High Definition PC video files and Satellite TV broadcasts. If you have Over The Air TV or a HD/BluRay DVD player connected, you can assume the picture quality will only improve with the higher quality content offered by the latter.
The colors are very vivid and the 47HL167 has numerous adjustments to help each viewer satisfy their own preference. The blacks are very good and make you forget all concerns about the picture quality. The sound quality is fine. Bass and Treble can be adjusted and the unit also has three separate adjustments for Surround Effects. The TV has several inputs including the noteworthy three HDMI inputs.
